A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §46A-2-129b, relating to limiting the number of telephone calls by a debt collector to a consumer to one call per any thirty-day period.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §46A-2-129b, to read as follows:

ARTICLE 2. CONSUMER CREDIT PROTECTION.
§46A-2-129b. Limit on telephone calls.

No debt collector may place a telephone call or otherwise communicate by telephone with a consumer or third party, at any place, including a place of employment, more than once every thirty days concerning the collection of that debt.



NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to limit the number of telephone calls from a debt collector to a consumer to one call per any thirty-day period.
